When Ronnie buys a huge dilapidated mansion to renovate with the inheritance from her brother she doesn't realize the blood soaked history of the house. The vengeful spirit of the former owner, Venita Rost a silent film star, is waking with the new activity in the house.

This is a fun haunted house novel with duel timelines, and multiple points of view. As Ronnie discovers the history of her new project house the story also introduces the POV of multiple ghosts. The ghosts become really well fleshed out characters, and the story feels rich without taking itself too seriously. This is not what I would call a scary story. The tragic uncovering of the mystery, super strong female main characters, and a unnerving depiction of grief are all highlights from the story that had me hooked. If you like an extremely haunted house and hard grief ridden content that never feels to oppressive than this may be the book for you.

Title: Swarm: Replugged Author: James Flynn Genre: Science Fiction Published Originally 2/1/2021 by the author, now with an new revised edition. Thank you to the author for providing a copy for review. In the second edition of Swarm, the city of Rachton is riddled with crime. A victim of crime, Eric Trammel, has turned to a life in the GLC to help fight against the criminals ruining his city. The answer the GLC comes up with is a new prison where prisoners can by connected to a hive mind to harvest their consciences to create answers to their hardest questions. Swarm: Replugged is a great science fiction thought experiment of the possibilities of the human mind as well as the consequences of harvesting it. I read both editions of this book at the same time to compare. There are a lot of revisions that make the prose tighter though I really enjoyed both versions. A group of vampires descend upon a beach town after a documentary airs about the killings that took place there years ago. These vampires seem set on getting to Rocky, and leave a large body count in their wake. When the Night Falls is the sequel to the beach town vampire story Until Summer Comes Around. This time the story is a little bit darker and a little bit bloodier. It takes place in the 1990s with plenty of fun nods to the decade to set time and place. I would highly recommend this series to fans of vampire stories. These are fast fun reads for summer. My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
