The vessel is called Clothra and the crew are engaged in a desperate struggle. There is something very bad in the water, a vile creature that is killing the lake’s users. They have to destroy it.
But not all of them feel the same.
Forced to abandon the vessel for a lifeboat, the crew attempt to lure the creature in the water to follow them, but one false move and they will also die horrible deaths. They are guided by one of their number to a secluded island where a final confrontation takes place.

My Thoughts

Mutation is about science lab created bacteria that finds and eliminates pollutants from water. The only problem is that it kills everything else in the water too. It is a well researched, thrilling, horror novel with the most original monster that I have read about.

The story was very thrilling with both monster and man adding to the tension. Killer bacteria released in a lake can really do a lot of damage, and I found myself routing very hard for the the protagonists. It was definitely fast-paced, and full of excitement.

If you are a fan of fast-paced monster stories you should consider checking this one out.

The stories seem to fit together in that they all explore unconventional types of relationships from the female prospective. The plots themselves are varied. Some worked better for me than others. This is a great release from Valancourt Books from this great author of Nest of Nightmares and Familiar Spirit. Ride the Nightmare: Being second to a man in an open marriage isn't easy. For Tess it brings on a prophetic nightmare.The nightmare imagery is great. 4 stars Bits and Pieces: A woman realizes the men that leave her life leave parts of themselves behind. In the pursuit of creating a perfect man she goes to great lengths to get what she wants.
